Renuvion J Plasma

Renuvion J Plasma is a revolutionary minimally invasive skin and soft-tissue tightening treatment used to optimize skin elasticity on all parts of the body and even the under chin area.  It uses innovative RF generator that creates a cold Helium plasma which creates immediate skin and soft-tissue tightening by contracting the connective tissue under the skin while simultaneously stimulation collagen production which tightens skin over time.

Walkthrough

Let our experienced team guide you through your procedure from start to finish

The Preparation

During your consultation, Dr. Vallecillos will determine if Renuvion J Plasma is right for you.  Treatment goals as well as ancillary treatments will be discussed, and reasonable expectations will be set.  Additionally, during the consultation, Doctor Vallecillos will take a full medical history, including medications and previous surgical procedures. This is also the time to ask any procedural questions you may have.  Lastly, pre-and postoperative instructions will be reviewed in preparation for your surgery.

Renuvion J Plasma liposuction does not require extensive preparation.  However, there are actions you can take to decrease the risk of bleeding and bruising, and improve your recovery:

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs including aspirin and ibuprofen for two weeks prior to the procedure.

  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before the procedure.

  • Stop smoking 2 weeks before the procedure.

  • Avoid certain supplements such as tumeric, ginger, vitamin E, garlic, CoQ10, and ginkgo biloba two weeks prior to the procedure.

  • Increase hydration prior to the procedure.

The Procedure

Prior to the procedure, the selected anesthetic method is deployed. Tumescent fluid (local anesthetic) is injected into the areas of interest, and the numbing agent is allowed to take effect for 20 minutes. During this time, blood vessels also shrink, reducing bleeding and bruising. If performed in conjunction with liposuction, the liposuction is first performed prior to introducing the soft-tissue tightening. Next, through hidden keyhole incisions, the Renuvion J Plasma hand-piece is passed radially through the treatment areas, transmitting Helium plasma that contracts regional connective tissue without harming surrounding tissue, until technical endpoints are reached. Once the tissue is adequately treated, residual fluid and Helium are removed with traditional liposuction techniques. The result is a substantial improvement in contour with enhanced skin and soft-tissue tightening and a smooth appearance. Once healed, the overlying skin will be noticeably tighter, though this may take several months to appreciate. Lastly, a specialized compression garment is applied to assist with swelling and body contouring. The garment is typically worn for 6 weeks in most instances.

The Recovery

Recovery from J-Plasma is typically quick, with most patients able to resume normal activities within a few days to a week following treatment. Full recovery may take several weeks. Downtime for this procedure typically ranges from 5 to 10 days. Common side effects include mild bruising, mild to modest swelling, and minimal pain. The duration of these side effects varies, with the majority of swelling gone by 2 weeks and all swelling typically resolved within 4 months.

Ultrasound and lymphatic massage are commenced on post-operative day #1 to expedite the removal of excess fluid, when indicated. Additionally, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is recommended for a reduction in inflammation.

Patients are advised to avoid heavy exercise for one month following the procedure. Swimming in pools, hot tubs, lakes, or oceans should be avoided for no less than two weeks to promote optimal healing.

What are the benefits of J-Plasma?

For patients seeking to address mild to moderate skin laxity, J-plasma is the definitive option. It’s versatility allows for soft-tissue tightening on various areas of the body. Additionally, the J-Plasma procedure may be performed with or without liposuction. This makes the procedure ideal for patients who are thin and do not have fat to remove, yet suffer from skin or soft-tissue laxity.

J-Plasma also has the potential to significantly alleviate other skin concerns such as cellulite. J-Plasma can reduce the appearance of cellulite by “ironing out“ skin depressions. This is accomplished by connective tissue contraction over surrounding areas of fat, making cellulite less obvious.

Renuvion procedures are excellent for addressing loose skin on the sides and back of the upper legs, especially when used with liposuction.

Renuvion, also known as J Plasma, offers several benefits.  These include:

  • Minimal downtime

  • Minimally invasive

  • Smoother skin

  • Improved cellulite

  • Enhanced, unparalleled skin tightening

  • Enhanced, more precise results

  • Versatility in treatment areas

  • Results seen as early as first post-operative day

  • Targets connective tissue under the skin while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected

  • Excellent addition to Vaser for etching in 4D high definition liposuction

  • Can be used in combination with external skin tightening procedures such as Morpheus8

  • Minimal bruising / swelling

  • Minimal post-operative discomfort

How The Procedure Works

Renuvion J Plasma procedures are performed in-office or at an accredited surgery center, depending on the size and number of areas being treated.  J Plasma performed under a general anesthetic requires a pre-operative work up which including labs, ECG, and medical clearance when indicated.

Renuvion J Plasma is a safe and highly effective minimally invasive skin laxity treatment that stands alone in the category skin and soft-tissue tightening.  It is a one-of-a-kind permanent solution for the management of mild to moderate soft-tissue laxity and when combined with Vaser, provides unparalleled 4D high definition body contouring results.

Similar and Related Procedures

Renuvion J-Plasma is a minimally invasive procedure designed to tighten mild to moderate skin and/or soft-tissue laxity.  The procedure is FDA cleared for contraction of connective tissue, treatment of neck laxity and facial renewal procedures.  Additionally, J Plasma is the only device FDA cleared to provide soft-tissue contraction following liposuction, thus making it a truly novel technology.

While it uses the same incisions to that of Vaser liposuction and Bodytite, the procedure is not designed to disrupt and remove unwanted fat.  However, as mentioned above, the procedure may be performed in conjunction with liposuction. J-Plasma and liposuction combine excellently to remove fat and tighten the skin in one surgery.  In fact, the vast majority of cases performed by Doctor Vallecillos with J Plasma involves primary removing unwanted adipose tissue with Vaser assisted liposuction.  The two procedures pair well together to create a comprehensive transformation.

Bodytite is another procedure that works well at contracting skin and soft-tissue, similar to Renuvion J Plasma.  Bodytite, through RFAL or Radio-Frequency Assisted Lipolysis, has the capability of breaking up fat tissue, much like Vaser, although Bodytite is not as efficient as Vaser liposuction for this purpose.

During the consultation and evaluation with Doctor Vallecillos, a decision will be made as to which combination of soft-tissue tightening technologies is best suited for your particular needs and desired outcome.  Below, find a table comparing the capabilities of J Plasma, Vaser liposuction and Bodytite:
